Car with sign 'New car from R699, sms ....'.

Hiya

You knows those cars with the sign 'New car from R699, sms ....'.

I would like to ask. Whats the catch (other than to drive a car with a permanent ad)?
Or how does the deal work.

Thanks to those that can reply / help.

You have to drive a certain number of km per month. If you meet their target, they give you a refund/rebate on your repayment (which is a lot higher than R699).
If you don't... no rebate that month.

You have to drive a minimum number of k's per month (something ridiculous like 2000) to advertise their deal for them. I might be wrong, but we discussed it last time on here...

People are bloody retarded, nothing is for "free" If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is

Your cashback is based on distance travelled for the month, so if you do only 500km then your not going to get your full cashback - they also cap it at a certain amount which is usually 2200km pm.

They have a very strict admin process and rely on people screwing up to not make payments to them.

Things like charging R500 if you forget your FTP password to upload your photos of your car - you need to take photos of the speedometer and the outside of the car each month on a specific date.

If the signage is damaged or faded, you have to pay for it else no cash back.

At anytime they can withdraw this system - ouch.

They can advertised anything on your car - that could be really embarrassing if its a political party or female hygiene products

Some of the cars come without warranty and are demos.

And yes, I looked into the system and decided to walk away.

Yeah, I can remember there was a cover on this on Carte Blanche a while ago, some people that never got the rebate/refund amount.

Why would one need rebate cry about? Isn't R699/month decent enough for a new-ish car?

And can you like take off the stickers, and put them on when you taking the photos? :D

No, your repayment is a lot higher - like normal car repayments. The rebate takes it down to R699

I see they have a number that you have to sms. Are these numbers all the same? Isnt this a way of checking how visible you are?

Too much of a hassle. I'll just buy a car the usual way then.

Plus it's my car and I don't want any █████████████ signage on it...
