I know this was on carte blanche a while back, made to look like a scam of people not receiving their money.

I also know off two people who has these deals and tells me its 100% legit.

I'm still skeptical about it though

Don't you have a Golf GTi? I thought it was good as a city run around car. Hmmm?

I do but if I can get a R599 pm small car and park my Gti then why not? I spend that mony on petrol in less than a week. And also I'd be saving mileage on my car for better resale and my next Golf which I am getting soon. I just feel I drive way too much. And if I can save on these deals then why not? Driving a long distance the Gti is perfect but around town its heavier than my old Golf 5 2.0.

Talk is cheap

Meaning? Ofcause I won't replace my Golf with one of these. As I said it was something I was thing about because I feel I am driving way too much and if I can be rewared for my driving while saving on petrol then that will be great. But I'll sure keep my Gti and even upgrade to another.

I don't drive any of that, but it basically works like this:

You still buy the car at full price and actually pay the full monthly payment.
Then you must stick the ads on your car and claim a "refund" each month , i guess you can call it "advertising commission" .
There's usually different "plans" based on how many km your drive (so you need to send odometer readings and such too) etc.
The ads can also change , so they will send you new stickers to put on at certain times etc.
You need to send them photos, odometer readings, timestamps etc of your car each month to get that refund.

The complaints i've read is, the companies don't always pay up and they don't always make it easy for you to upload your photos (or contact them). Kinda like working with a government agency by the sounds of things. Also the different "plans" that determines how much you can claim per month can be misleading, so i suppose read carefully what it entails.

I suppose the good part, if you eventually feel screw it, this sucks, you just tear off the adverts and stop claiming.

I suggest you go to Hellopeter.com and read the complaints of these companies. I believe the one big company doing this is called "Just Group Africa" . Do a search on hellopeter and see what people are complaining about, that's a good start.

EDIT: Start here : http://hellopeter.com/search-reports?keyword=just+group+africa

As you can see 99% of the complaints relate to people not getting their refunds/claims.

You need to drive something crazy like 2000km per month.

LOL? How is that even remotely crazy?

I do 1584km per month just going to work so if I add an average of weekend and weeknight travel to that I'll hit 2000km easily.

And I live in Cape Town. Most people I know who live in Jo'burg do double that one way.

For me just to and from work travel is around 2000km a month. Excluding weekend driving.

start.

You can but the interest rate is extra high on the non discounted finance so then you'll end up paying more than if you just bought the car and financed it normally.

Why not get this, and then actually buy a car you can normally afford, use their rebate to act like a double payment and pay the car off quick time.

You have to buy one of their cars and have it financed though them at a higher interest rate. If you don't get the refund they score double. Once with the free advertising and again with the higher interest rate.

While I can draw an illustrious analogy between the claimed "new car" and a lady of the night, I'm not going to since you already get the picture.

I see on the just africa site, they say the interest rate will be prime +2% variable. That can be alot if you can get prime directly from the bank.
