Hi,

Im travelling to Gauteng tommorow morning and would like to know which would be
best road(s) to take from OR Tambo to Midrand-Kyalami. I will be landing about 7:30 am. Google maps
gives 3 routes but I would appreciate some input from the Gautengers.

Highway is probably easiest but it'll have most traffic. R21 through Kempton, onto the M39 (Allandale) is probably the way I'd go 'tho

If you don't want to get lost you can take the longer route - R24, N3, N1, Allandale

Thanks people , I will take the R21, M39 route.

The time that you landing isn't ideal. Metro police love having roadblocks on the M39. This is slightly longer but less issues. R21 onto Olifantsfontein road. Over N1 highway onto R55 to Kyalami/Sandton. This will mostly be against traffic.

Be prepared to be delayed at Chloorkop M39, Zuurfontein junction. (up to 20 mins if not more, they are busy with construction and traffic lights aren't working) I use this road daily but pass there just after 6 in the morning to avoid traffic.

Hi people,

The traffic wasn't bad yesterday morning, well not as bad as I was told it can get. The afternoon I made my getaway early to the airport
to miss the afternoon peak.

This. Never ever fly to OR if going to JHB for business. Lanseria is best, especially with the early flights landing there.

Depends where you're going. If you're hitting Sandton or anywhere on the gautrain line, then ORT + Gautrain is the way to go.
