Driving licence renewal problem slated by AA and Outa

Anyone who gets fined for an expired drivers or vehicle licence should refuse to pay the fine and insist on being prosecuted in court. Eventually the courts will be clogged up with so many cases that the authorities will have to do something about the situation.
err... like they're doing with eTolls? I doubt they're going to do anything, it'll just carry on as it has till now...

A traffic c***t fined me R500 for an expired license during the lock down.
Explained to the twat what the deal is.
Now I'm gonna bust his bribing ass.
Revenge is sweet.

Let's be honest, lockdown wasn't the cause. a bunch of lazy staff is the reason. As long as they get their Govt salary they have absolutely no ambition to do any work for it.

Renewing driver's licenses is one of the stupidest things in the history of mankind. I had to renew mine end of last year and it was such a pain to do it here in Joburg that I actually drove to a different province just to get it done.
So it's not the renewing part but the process. Renewals every 5y hardly a train smash.

So oom Jan can drive his Cortina till hes 95 since it never had to be renewed.

Anybody hired a car overseas with an out of date SA license?

I'm sure that a sympathetic Avis Agent in France will let you drive one of their vehicles.

The anc couldn't administer a pissup in a brewery...hopeless and redundant bunch of morons!

Regarding the prehistoric comment. I left SA in 2003. Went back to SA 2015 for the 1st time. Married to a Scandinavian woman, but live in Malta. Culture shock to say the least. My wife went b*****t, after being in the bathrooms rooms on the WF in CT. Then came the prehistoric comment as well. 3 Days later, back in Scandinavia for a White Christmas. Never gone back. Regarding the comment about an outdated license, I would not recommend it @ all. So if you guys have so many problems now, it must be worse now than 2015. Good luck.

Everything this government touches is broken. We had a working system then they came with this card nonsense.

Mine has expired heard there is an additional 6 month grace period because of lock down. True?
And that is going to make it a nightmare for those of us who actually have to renew in January.

Imagine what a nightmare it's going to be to renew vehicle licence disks next year 30 August 2021. Half the country's vehicle licences are all going to expire at the same time next year at the end of August.

I applied for renewal in Jan 2019.
Got the SMS to collect 2 months ago, beginning Aug 2020.
On the card it says the issue date was Feb 2019.

5 / 7 service

Did mine in July last year. 40 min to queue and do the test - 20 min to pick up. Was a breeze. Picked it up a month later.

So glad it expired last year and not this year...

I will do mine a month early, avoid the rush.

Only if it expired in the lockdown and that grace ended already I think. But you just book it, get a temporary and you're fine. Known people who had expired licenses for 5 years.
I went in June for my license it took me longer to drive there than it did to sort out my license, picked it up a month later. Though I had to go 25km away to do it as at the time none of the local DMVs were open due to COVID.
