I would drive like this:
1st Sleepover: Around Bloemfontein
2st Sleepover: Upington
3rd Sleepover: Keetmanshoop
You don't want to drive at night in the Northern Cape or Namibia.
damn i will need to make a proper plan of the routes and times i am supposed to be resting.

That's a serious distance, if it was me, rather fly honestly.
Dbn>jhb>Nam
Would probably work out cheaper as well,
I know it is expensive but its more like something i have always wanted to do you know.... I have always wanted to drive and take such a road trip. Fuel would probably chow a lot of cash.

No i am not planning on driving all night but i was hoping to cover ground as much as possible. Atleast i have cruise control. So i can just hit n3 and lock in at 100 or 120km.

hahahahha that 120 becomes 160 very quickly

the road rfom CPT to jhb is like 1800km and it took us roughly aaround 14 hours with proper stops

but best is to stop over but you can also do 3 hrs of driving easily before taking a small break

just make sure you not tired

Have you budgeted how much it's going to cost in petrol for the complete trip?
I got a chev cruze 1.6LS and i am thinking of setting aside around R9 - 10k to be on the safe side. Will that be enough for such a distance. It also chows fuel so there is that.

should cost around R1 a km so i doubt so much ..maybe R7500 for a round trip

but durban to jhb had mad toll prices so that will cost alot

damn 14 hours.... I will try to maintain speed i only went over 120 once when i went to jozi and i was averaging around 130 - 140.... but i managed to get back down to 120. I do not want to be caught overspeeding.

You not planning on driving all night right? Curfew and all.

That's not being enforced anymore. I had to do an unplanned night drive two weeks ago, got home at 1am the sunday morning, wasn't pulled over at all and I drove pass quite a few pigs along the way as it was a 400 km drive.

I'm used to driving long distances in a truck.
This trip was in a Isuzu 3L KB and alone.

Well when i went to Jozi i put a full tank and i got there without refilling if i am not mistaken? i normally do not put full tanks since i do not travel long distances much

On average a little over 400km .... but i will check properly. Does fuel consumption get affected by the type of road? most of the time i do not maintain constant speed due to the different roads and stuff.
