Drone photos show huge tears in Joburg's Bree Street after explosion

The damage is bad but not like a dual carriage bridge collapsed, it will take more time to sort out the water, sewerage and other utilities than fixing the actual road.

Problem is that everything is a tender, so someone is going to get it, someone is going to be unhappy about it and go to court to interdict the project and that's how it will take forever.

How long do you people think they are going to take to fix it and what will the predicted final cost be?

Newly-released drone photos show the extent of the damage caused by a mysterious explosion in the Johannesburg CBD earlier this week.

The explosion ripped through roughly 400 metres of Lilian Ngoyi Street (formerly Bree Street) just before 17:30 on Wednesday, 19 July 2023.

In addition, the explosion appeared to occur in the middle of the road, whereas Egoli’s pipes run in road servitudes on the sides of the road.
Is it in the middle or on the side of the road

What's the solution? Scrap BEE?

And they're taxis so just flip them back over, slap on some duct tape and away you go.
Yeah the damage won't be that bad on many of them, that's what the shock absorbers and springs are there for, it was not a bad explosion, some taxis even still had the glass intact.
Some fixes to the body and suspension, they will be good to go.
