Drop in line speed

Hey guys,

since the upgrade to 4mB, I have been getting max speed of 430k/sec on international siax. Bit it seems like this week it has dropped off from its consistant 420-430k/sec to now 350k/sec and it fluctuates. I have checked my router stats...

Connection Speed 4096 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 51.0 db 28.5 db
Noise Margin 14.5 db 12.0 db

I know my line is not a very good one from what I have heard people talk about line quality on the forum, but the stats havent changed from when I was getting the 430k/sec....

Could it be the line? Any help or advice would be greatly apreciated as its really puzzling me. Could it be that saix has been a bit off this week aswell?

It all depends on the time of day, i mean, look at my line stats, if i read the other threads correctly, im amazed i even get 4mbit...

SNR Margin 6down 13up
Line Attenuation 36down 19up
Data Rate 4096 384

And at night get 430kb/s all the time, but during the day, its bloody terrible
I think SAIX has been a bit off this week, cause normally when IS is feeling sluggish i login to webafrica but even that hasnt been that great, notice it a lot when streaming videos...

Hey Ziglet,

yeah, I have noticed that too. It seems even pages like google are taking longer to load, and the telkom speedtest is a joke. I took a screenshot of my test results. The speed said INFINITY telkom wishes. lol. But Im def sure that web browsing has been very sluggish this week on saix so far. I hope it returns to normal soon. and that goes for the IS news severs too

Looks like there have been 1 or 2 problems on www.noticeboard.saix.net this week...

Hopefully when 4mbit is properly launched we will get those speeds... I have to use a download manager to get anything above 160kb/s

Is my SNR Margin so bad that it would affect my ADSL? cause on IS at the moment and pinging google it just timing out or getting around 1000ms and im not doing anything at the moment. SNR margin was 13 otherday but has dropped like sh~t
