same thing happened to my 3gs, dried it with low heat on a hairdryer, left in rice overnight and now it's working fine. no more warranty though.

Why should I tell them if they don't find out? Could have happened due to rain as well. So I know NOTHING about a toilet, you?

while that might work when you're asked what u were doing in the toilet with a phone, for so long, it wont necessarily help here :)

Not sure about Apple, but some manufacturers put little stickers on the pc boards, and the threads of the screws. The paper on the sticker turns color if hydrated enough and it stays that color.

So your phone could be completely dry, and working 101%. if they open it and see the stickers changed colors however, they put it back together and wont touch it.

there are little strips inside the phone that turn red when exposed to water, so when they open the phone they'll see the water damage. Rain counts as water damage and will also void your warranty.
On the 3gs one of the strips is at the base of the headphone jack, you can see it if you look down the jack, not sure where the strips are located in the 3g though.

Glad you got sorted out - a few days drying will sort out most wet electronics.

Just 'cos it's a k@k phone doesn't mean you had to flush it! :p

Mine also got water damage.I panicked and left it in the sun to dry without switching it off stupidly. then when i did and tried to reboot it did but it stayed at the apple screen and couldn't get further even with a update. Fortunately i had taken insurance a month before my accident covering all damage and paid R90 and no excess to get paid back R7000. good thing though cause now I have a 3gs. Worst feeling ever going back to a nokia for 3 weeks, was like going back to the stone age.
