I know a few people who dabble with shrooms and LSD,Acid etc.
I stay friendly with them, but I dont see myself becoming friends with them.

I knew a few people who used Cocaine,Meth and Heroin
Promptly got the hell out of there, haven`t seen them since.

A few friends of mine use weed or marijuana.
Again I`d probably distance myself from them
I see the consumption of canabis for a 'high' as drug use.

Regular alcohol use is also off putting
I`ve been drunk, Its something I`d never want to experience ever again.

Yet smoking doesn`t bother me as much,as long as one doesnt do it around me.
However weed disturbs me a lot more.

Some people see weed as normal. :erm:

I assume most people avoid contact with hard drug users?
Alcohol seems to be normal in almost every context
'soft' drugs such as lsd, acid seem to be a grey area
I`m not sure where weed lies?

Personally I`d always avoid intoxicants and drugs.
I did really stupid stuff while drunk,I wouldn`t be able to live with myself if I hurt/killed someone else

Acid / LSD = same thing
Dont think it could be classed as a "soft drug". I suspect more people have done crazy **** on that stuff than most of the other "hard drugs".
I am probably one of few people who have emerged relatively unscathed from various "chemical adventures".
Acid was always entertaining, one of my more interesting adventures was a drive home years & years back, from pretoria to bryanston at 3am - that took the better part of 4.5 hours !! :D

I never cared about drugs etc... But once someone quite close to me "OD'd" (and a few people I knew had drug related problems) and that was a whole other story. If people even mention something along the lines of "I take an extra pain killer because it makes me feel warm and fuzzy", I'll never effing talk to them again. I hate that people think stuff like that is a positive in their lives.

Whoops I`m not too familiar with drug terminology :p

I`ve always been curious but I don`t think I`d try it

Some people handle recreational drugs fine others dont.
Its the same with alcoholics, chain smokers, subscription pill poppers etc.

But if the person using drugs is a well balanced person there is no reason not to be friends with them, unless you are scared you will eventually try it as well and know you have potential of becoming an addict.

The acid "era" was great for clubbing and i remember the shift to mdma and to what was called dance music. the alternative venues had a gothic vibe and the dance places were trancy with everyone facing the dj ??????

Still miss those old days.

Latter day drugs that scare the hell out of me are kat (quat?), tik, that neaupe stuff and my absolute terror - heroin. I know it's been around for ages but it's openly used now.

I watched 'Drugs' on National Geographic & this dude is addicted to cocaine and heroine.

Incredibly sad to see how he just lives for the next four hours to inject himself.

Saddest part was a dude who said that none of them are friends.

IMO, the use of alcohol has destroyed a lot more lives (and I'm talking kids here, not just other adults who do it to themselves or other adults) than weed has.

The only reason weed is a "gateway drug" is simple:

a) The person already has a psychological problem they're trying to cover up and is more inclined to use other stuff
b) Because weed is illegal, you need to get it by illegal means, and the people you get it at is more likely to have OTHER stuff. The person in point (a) will get what they want, and the inexperienced fool who would "just do weed cause hehehehe" might get some laced weed so that normal weed doesn't cut it for them anymore and the dealer would suggest an alternative...

Some substances are highly addictive, alcohol, meth, heroin, cocaine etc and with a psychological issue, the user who is exposed to those substances won't say no since the chances of the dealer wanting to hook them is better so the weed may be tainted and then the whole thing start spiralling out.

I enjoy ecstasy but that is it (don't take it any more). Insanity saw me trip on shrooms and all I say never again

Most of my friends smoke weed which I don't mind but just don't smoke the stuff if I am in the circle

The problem is getting hooked/addicted, where drugs take over your life. You lose productivity in your life.

If a person is an onion, we grow a layer around us as we grow, finish school, work get married and have children.

Addiction peels those layers away until there is nothing left.

Some of the most interesting people I have met have used LSD, weed and H. Changes your way of thinking, but really screws you up for life. After you come off them, the world will never be as bright and beautiful as it was before.

Must have heard this told about 100 times from everyone.
Yes, you can do stupid stuff on acid, but most of the time, if its really hectic, you generally just sit there and freak out

Agreed. Just like some people handle their drink better, so to do people handle illegal drugs.
With users, There is a definite shift in drug taking. Most of the time you start to supplement the fun you are already having, when you start taking it to be the main reason for the fun it gets dangerous.

I kind of agree with you. I have found alcohol is more of a gateway drug than anything else. I am sure if you speak to any person who has dabbled in drugs, they will tell you that the nights where they didnt want to do anything changed to them having an all nighter because they had a few drinks before moving over

I eventually went this way as well. Other stuff got to hectic, and i loathe the feeling from weed. I initially stopped because it become quite hard to get decent stuff. Now i have stopped because the recovery time is just to long. 3 days at least before I feel 100% again.

Not sure thats 100% true. Ive tried both, and I have friends who have been on and off for years. Most of them are the exact same and I would say they definitely enjoy life more when they are clean (for a few months) than when they are on

Drugs aren't the problem, the problem is the people who abuse them
