DSL 10MB

would be happy but stuck on 2 mbits till they replace my copper line :( even though i'm 700 metres from the dslam

I only know about 10MB - nothing about 12MB.

This is South Africa.
We'll get 12MB when the rest of the world has 100GB :)

Im sure I read that Telkom was trialling 12MB as well

Sometimes the telkom tech guys DO know what they are talking about!

Sure, im not saying the tech guys dont know what they are saying. What I am saying is that sometimes, maybe even the tech guys dont want to give away too much information. Im pretty sure they have signed some form of an agreement whereby any new developments are kept secret.

I never meant to come across as they are all a bunch of idiots, I just meant that perhaps they are bound to silence. G()d knows.

LOL, I really hope my gut is not on crack!

Edit: I think Telkom is going to do something good. And then they are going to disappear for another 30 years before any new developments come to surface.

In theory the DSLAMs that are ADSL2+ capable can reach 24Mbps, but the condition of the cable network will throttle it badly.

You are quite correct, the techies who do know are not the customer facing guys (the ones you see in the Telkom vans), rather the techies in the background who plan and build the indoor plant. You normally don't see them around much!!

Are you referring to the local network or SEACOM, etc.?
