ADSL vs fibre prices in South Africa — the winner is clear

South Africans can save a fair amount each month if they can opt for a home fibre package instead of DSL, a MyBroadband analysis has revealed.

Although comparing fibre to DSL on a like-for-like basis can be challenging, it is possible to calculate a per Mbps price to compare the two.

Your Telkom fibre vs ADSL graph shows Price per MB, and should Price per Mbps. "B" is the universally accepted unit for bytes, while "b" is the universally accepted unit for bits. The "per second" or "ps" indicates a data connection speed, while omitting that indicates a data quantity. Normally 8 bits per byte, plus headers, etc. on top of payload over an internet connection, so difference is usually a factor 9 to 10 between MBps and Mbps.

The only reason why you would still have ADSL is if you don't have access to any fibre!
There could be other reasons too but let's keep to the most obvious ones!
