Hi. I want to take Decocoder at home A to home B. I already have a Dstv dish installed at home B. Will the decoder work at home B?

Nah... you have to get the dish replaced, and buy a new decoder..

DSTV will know you moved it and they don't like that... they pair the decoder to the dish.

You can use your decoder at your new house, Just need to phone DSTV and get them to change the address and details.

The LNB is not paired to the decoder, only the Smart Card. As long as you have a Smart LNB for an Explora. You should just be able to plug it in and it will work

Simply as long as you move the decoder with the smartcard it will work. Previously the smartcard wasnt paired and so you could take your card with on holiday and access DSTV from anywhere, now it is. But if you move the whole decoder with smartcard it will work.

And yes you would need to check the lnb. It could be your bottleneck if it's a different type.

But wait? Are you seriously still subscribed to DSTV?

what a load of rubbish, there is no pairing to a dish, a dish is a reflective surface. There is no connection to a dish and decoder only an LNB and there is zero/no pairing!

It's not rubbish... Ask sajunky, he'll prove to you that you're wrong. Dstv also know exactly what you watch.

Hickory hickory dock. What the... Please provide proof of this! There is no pairing of a LNB and a decoder. Only SmartCard and decoder.
Dstv also know exactly what you watch.
This conspiracy gets so much more worse. A decoder that is not internet connected has no means to feed back data to Multichoice. A decoder and satellite is a RECEIVER only.
If an Explorer series decider is connected to the internet and you select to option to provide stats then watching pattern data is returned.
Using an app, by the nature will give usage stats!

How scary is this, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime and Google know way more about your life than DStv does.
Better get off the internet!
Oh and your ISP.
Lets add Open Serve, Vodacom, MTN, Telkom, Vumatel, Rain, Cell C, IS or whatever backbone and ISP you are using also knows what you do, how much data you use.

Wait you use a VPN, well then they know that and if all you traffic goes through a VPN well you are a prime suspect for monitoring or a state of an user who is trying to cover up. Privacy blah blah blah, well when a very small % of VPN people use a VPN and even a very small % use it for privacy, well I guess there is enough reasons to monitor that.

But wait, my comms are encrypted sure they might not read your telegram messages but they sure know you are using Telegram.

Wait this is a bit like DStv knowing that you have the decoder on and on some channel, they have no idea if the TV is on and if people are really in front of it watching/listening. How many people. Or wait does the decoder have a hidden camera to watch you?

Then you must be scared that people remotely switch on your Mic or camera on your phone or laptop and listen to your conversations. And remember most of corporate South Africa install spy software on their hardware to monitor staff.

Seriously, tin foil is cheap if you can't afford the lead hat

As long as the lnb is the same type. (Single, twin, smart, satcr) it will work. Moving your decoder will make no difference. Your smartcard and decoder must move together.

You may only experience issues if you move to a different setup where you may have had a smart lnb and the other doesnt. Then you just need to change the lnb. But depending on your setup you may get around it.

Dstv is really a joke to setup. Plenty of youtube videos around and guides as well.
