Why would it..? People are not going to buy a DStv decoder to only stream Netflix or to then stream DStv..

People buying the decoder would have a DStv subscription..
And when a weather storm disrupts your signal and you trying to watch something live it would be nice to be able to switch to streaming on the decoder.

Weather storm disrupting the signal hardly lasts more than a few short minutes..

Explora Ultra hardware can do HDR - Netflix output is 4k HDR.
Does not help with DSTV as that's only 720p or 1080i

The biggest issue with Explora is NO App Store.
Ultra is pre-installed with DSTV, Showmax, Netflix, SuperSport, News24, Peoples Weather.
  • NO Amazon Prime Video
  • NO Apple TV
  • NO YouTube
  • NO Spotify
  • NO Facebook Watch
  • NO Google play Movie
  • NO Redbull TV
  • NO Disney+
  • NO IPTV
  • NO HBO Max
  • NO Hulu
  • NO Web Browser
NO NO NO.

Better off with Explora 3 (Was R699 during November) + Mi Box S.

Why wouldn't it? It's capable of (alsomost) streaming everything from the mainstream providers, but not DStv.

Or is this capability coming with a new Explora Ultra+?

Definitely a step in the wrong direction for multichoice...Any tv top box would be a better option than the explorer plus you aren’t locked into anything proprietary...

I have a Mi Box, uncapped fibre, VPN contract and access to Dstv Now via a family member's account - all for less than R1200 pm. That said, the Dstv is only for sports now and then.
Multichoice sponsors those who advertize and promote their products and will NEVER, NEVER catch up...
