Is there any chance of a dual view HD decoder from multichoice?
My parents are looking to upgrade their dual view decoder and would love to get a HD dual view, but as far as my knowledge extends there aren't any plans from DSTV for a dual view HD decoder?

Xtraview has replaced dual view.

Unfortunately, yes.
I woul suggest they use the SD PVR with an HD PVR for the time being.
More details here.

Also keep in mind that Multichoice will be launching a newer model HD PVR soon. They are not too keen on the details, but it appears that it would be a little bit faster, and a bit cheaper too... so might be wothwhile to hang in there for a while. :)

Ok, so they have to buy two HD PVRs if they want all the tvs to be HD... that sounds like an expensive option...

Well only if they want to watch 2 separate HD channels at the same time, but there is only 1 channel now anyway (another end Dec)
Otherwise get HDPVR + 1110/1131 > watch 2, record 2

Yes, but you will only have pvr capabilities on one.
So -
HDPVR = 2 record - one pvr and HD channel.
1110/1131 = 1 channel watch only. (no pvr/hd capabilities)

This not cool imo. So you basically have all the capabilities on only 1 channel.
You can only watch recorded content from 2 channels or 170 on one channel.

And we're still waiting for DSTV on demand on the hd. And the extra HD channels. and the search functionality. I know there are still 3 weeks before "The end of the year" that everyone was talking about. But don't you think Multichoice is cutting it a bit fine?

Honestly, try and get a second hand SD PVR. Much more value for money.
No HD.
BUT: DSTV on demand, 2 x pvr channels that you can watch recordings on.
