DStv drops four channels without warning

E-tv owner eMedia has announced that MultiChoice dropped four of its channels from DStv without warning.

This comes after the Competition Tribunal ruled against eMedia’s appeal to keep the channels on MultiChoice’s satellite TV platform.

Cry me a river, eMedia.. You had a warning when DStv initially said it's not renewing its agreement with you..

You should have known that DStv would drop the channels as soon as the outcome of your appeal went in their favour..

I thought I had a fault when punching 140 yesterday. Cancelled DSTV this morning. In credit of R15, so I asked them to refund me. Because of banking charges under R50 they do not refund. Asked them to allow me to transfer the credit to another customer, which they agreed to. The whole point was to troll and keep their call centre staff busy over a trifle.

Switched on my OVHD decoder last night. Haven't watched or missed DSTV up until now. Will give it a few weeks before deciding whether to cancel or not.

DikSukTV. Nuff said - I'm glad I cancelled years ago.

eMedia announced in its annual results last week that eExtra, eMovies Extra, and eReality rank in the top 15 of all satellite channels available in South Africa.

Cant have that kind of competition on the super sparkly and extra amazing DSTV platform now can we?

Dstv drop the 4 eMedia channels with nothing to replace them with immediately, yet the cost to the subscriber stays the same. It's immaterial that the eMedia channels are free on OpenView, the initial subscription included the 4 channels that are now missing. 3rd grade entertainment is dished up like the Kardashians, ( I've yet to meet someone that actually watches it) and reruns of reruns.

Well, the only reason I had one of the DSTV packages was because of all the movie channels. Now there are almost none left. Will unfortunately cancel now.

I've had DSTV for years, I didn't even know about these channels until now.

DSTV dropped the most popular channels but the monthly subs haven't.
So, I have moved on, canceled DStv and I am told the news channels were screening the court case the whole day and praying that no prominent persons die anytime soon. Good bye DStv
