The article doesn't say we can't buy the package(s) at home. Saying it is office to businesses isn't a reason and it doesn't look like the article author bothered asking

MultiChoice added that business-to-business package offerings have different requirements to individual subscriptions, which influences how they are priced.
Any random person could've phoned them and got that info. Flex some journalist muscle next time and push them for the real reason they're refusing the give customers a thing they want at a really good price.

Because F** all choice enjoys ripping consumers off. Special packages for certain "special" people only and consumers must pay rediculous premiums. F** all choice must come right or die! Boycott dstv. Lots of other choices out there

MC will ass rape us for as long as possible. No complicated explanation required. Thanks to the ANC competition in the pay TV space does not exist.

Because they'll lose a large proportion of premium customers. If you own a business just apply under your business name.

Those Business packages are per TV - so how many TV's do you have at home ?

For example, 3 * R349 is not so cheap any more.

I'm not very surprised there are different packages for business and consumer/domestic.

I suspect the audience and watching-time profiles for DStv in businesses are on the whole somewhat different from domestic installations. Since foreign content owners price differently for different audiences, it's not surprising that DStv does the same, even for its own content such as domestic sports. Especially in rather miniscule markets such as SA.

What's wrong with one?

Indeed, but can a non-business homeowner really apply for one of those packages ?

Personally, however, I would only go for a sports package for R200pm. Can be limited, just need F1, Rugby, Cricket.

In the meantime I will do without.

What MyBB fails to mention is that DSTV for business carries a large base fee, doesn’t include xtraview and DSTV streaming services. The “cheap” sports package is an addon. I’m not 100% sure what the numbers are- but base package and sports addon runs you more than a single DSTV premium package.

You mean per decoder. Most people only need one but even for two it should be cheaper.

The packages are all there. Some are primarily entertainment while others are based on sport. It's not an "add-on". Would still be cheaper for the people that only want sport but once you take a package and add on individual channels to make up a "home" package sure it's going to cost you a lot more.
