DStv permanently adds Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. to its Compact subscription

Now how about Kyknet? There's no reason an indigenous language should be premium.

There is KykNet & Kie, I'm more perplexed that Carte Blanche is premium

Think the issue is it's a local production, requiring production costs to create the content. It's not content they can just buy like they do with everything else.

If they drop it to compact, many will just leave premium. And there's no guarantee that those on lower packages will upgrade, because they've done without it all this time anyway...

Most of it does find its way to their youtube channel, just delayed of course.

Personally think they've become far too much about scandals so don't watch much anymore. The previous balance kept me and others I know hooked for decades...

BTW, Kyknet is on Compact Plus as well.

The only channels that are Premium-only are
M-Net
M-Movies 1 & 2 (but available as an add on for most other packages)
SuperSport Grandstand, Rugby, Cricket, Golf, Tennis, Motorsport & Maximo channels
BBC Earth
Bloomberg Business News

The last one can be watched free here, lol : https://www.bloomberg.com/live/us
Some BBC Earth content is also available elsewhere...
Premium hasn't got the power it used to have.

For me CB used to be something interesting to watch while waiting for the 20:00 movie. No longer watching the movie for years now meant no longer watching CB...

Yes but so is the Africa Magic stuff. I know there's Kyknet & Kie and Via but blacks have more available to them on the lower packages. Soccer is more mainstream than Rugby but it's available on the lower packages.

Has been since they launched Compact Plus but MC views it as part of their premium segment. Interesting with Rugby they used to show it for us with a 2 hour delay which is fine but since the bout with ETV they've started taking days to show a repeat.

Because they have the numbers to make it financially viable. How many whites and coloureds would subscribe to lower packages to make Kyknet viable?

Compact+ is leaning toward the same boat the only thing giving it value would be

1Max
KykNet
CBS Justice
Curiosity Channel
History
SuperSport Variety 1 & 2
SuperSport Action
Qwest TV
Sky News

I can tell you that a majority don't care about these channels particularly documentaries.
