I bought a Samsung 43" UHD TV this week. After installing it I find the DSTV picture quality is worse that it was on my 7 year old Samsung 32" HD LCD TV, even on the HD Channels. I am using a single View HD Decoder.

It could be that the TV is bigger

It would be worse, because your TV has to upscale the resolution to it's naive 4k.

Here's an example:

Now look at the size of the SD picture, compared to the size of the UHD picture. Your TV has to fill in all those missing pixels if you want to watch it in full screen.

You could theoretically watch SD at better quality, but it would be it's naive shrunken size, and not full screen.

The solution is to start watching higher resolution content. It was the same problem we faced when moving from SD to HD...

Assuming you're using HDMI, the picture should be ok on HD channels and tolerable on the SD ones, but year, it won't be the greatest quality. What are you connecting the decoder to the TV with?

Definitely not a DSTV problem
