DStv Premium vs Compact Plus price and channel showdown

DStv's Premium and Compact Plus packages differ in price by R290 despite the cheaper plan only having fifteen fewer channels than the top-tier subscription.

However, sports enthusiasts might still find the more expensive package appealing as it provides access to seven more SuperSport (SS) channels, including SS Rugby, SS Cricket, SS Golf, SS Motorsport, and SS Grandstand.

Netflix is kark
Now and then Gems pop up and it also depends what you fancy.
At the moment for me it is 1899 and Blockbuster to name two.

That said. I used to be a DStv Premium subscriber for a long time, but their kark attitude and customer service drove me away. In fact I was one of the beta testers for the original PVR I and that was great. But looking back now even with that liniar TV and limited PVR space was such a schlepp.

Now I share with a friend and between us we have : Netflix / Amazon Prime / Youtube Premium / Paramount+ / Disney+ USA (including ESPN) / Hulu / HBO Max / F1TV / Curiosity Stream and Nebula and now Disney+ SA for less money than a Premium DStv sub due to the sharing. (You can only watch so many channels at one point in any case).

For work purposes I had to have a good Internet Fibre connection in any case and I had a VPN subscription as well in any case for security so with that in place I get all the content I can ever want.

I am NOT looking back at DStv and missing them in the least.
They tried to milk their customers for all they had and the repeated adds and kark T&Cs and excruciating slow devices just pissed me off.

Even the F1TV transmission is so much better than the crap transmission on DStv. Best thing ever.

I'd never say DSTV is better than any other streaming. I just do not find anything worthwhile watching on Netflix and that's about it. And yes, it's a personal choice.

Oh wait .. Dead to me season 3 was just released on Netflix. May just switch it back on just for that.

It is interesting that the more channels you get, the more expensive it gets per channel. No wonder they are loosing customers!
