Intrested to buy satellite in the next few months. Which option model is better to go for (weight options) or better to wait for new model & more HD channels.

If you can get your hands on an SD PVR, that's the way to go.
Right now the HD channel is kinda crappy, unless you're a huge sports fan. Last week one of their "HD" movies was "Look who's talking?"..:sick:

The SD PVR has DSTV on demand, and its reliable.

HD for sure. On demand, series recording and 2 new channels should be functional very soon, as well as other stuff that will be coming next year.

Ok here we go again.....

DSTV says there will be 3 new channels, When? who knows. Probably a dedicated soccer hd channel:sick:. If they can honestly not supply content for ONE hd channel, and continuously show movies from the 80's and early 90's in "HD", what are we going to be watching on the other 3?

DSTV on Demand has been promised for the HDPVR since December 2008.. Still waiting? Me too. As for the other stuff.. what could that be? Maybe the series record functionality they promised last year? How about advanced search?

Ok maybe I'll settle if they take a couple of things out. Like the need to delete scheduled recordings 3 or 4 times before they actually delete. Or maybe the need to reset the damn thing once a month.

I have a SD and a HD. 90% of the time its on the SD. I only switch over to the HD to watch an occasional movie and sport. I hardly ever bother recoding on the thing anymore because it either cuts of the start or the end of the series. If it records at all.

Ja exactly... here we go again. I give you some good new info from reliable sources and you just keep on going like a stuck record. If you check my previous post, series recording will be here soon .

You clearly have some odd issues with your HDPVR.. mine works just fine.... records things properly.

The 3 new channels we're hearing about are a series channel, a movie channel and an HD SuperSport channel which will probably be predominantly soccer, but thats to be expected to start with.

Oh, and btw, those movies shot in the 80's and 90's are actually HD... old 35mm film can resolve up to 6000 lines.. so is actually "higher" definition than HD.

Oh. Reliable sources? That's good news.

Your sources told you only 2 new channels?
Lets have them then. The sources. (TIP: your lower portal does not constitute a reliable source)

I'm so sick of empty promises.

Maybe they could be, but they're not.

2 new channels before end of year. Sources... We had a supplier and accredited installer conference, with the top technical guys (no marketing or management)

Confirmed by a couple MC employees as well
And DSTV on demand should be available on the HDPVR soon

Or maybe the need to reset the damn thing once a month.
Those few minutes a month must be killer

I personally couldn't do without mine now, 80% of the stuff i watch is from the HD channel

Makes no real difference when they broadcast them in 720p TB.

Precisely....

They original source has a higher resolution, therefore broadcast in 720p is just fine, it will have no less detail than a current movie displayed in 720p.

The colouring may be different, but thats just due to differing technologies over the decades
