Not really a direct competitor, lol have you seen how old the content is on Amazon?

These are not competing products but complementary.

If anyone thinks Netflix or Amazon is any different they are trying to fool themselves.
On Netflix at least there is quite a bit of newer content as well, the South African catalog isn't the best though, but still find it a lot better than Dstv while being substantially cheaper.

To be honest they all repeat everything 24/7, Sky in the UK , the American channels when I checked into IPTV.
Regarding the last one IPTV, never in my life have I seen so many adverts - Ghecko whatever every freakin 15min.
DirectV - all repeats.

Well you can't compare the two anyway so it's pointless anyone trying to is just trying to justify their decision.

I find them more complementary I have shows and stuff I watch on DSTV that is not on Netflix and vice versa.

And cheaper is relevant term as Netflix misses a big gap DSTV covers.

In 2020 I don't think the problems are repeats...it's that people no longer want to watch things on a schedule. They want to watch things when they want to. This notion of something being on at a specific time is outdated. Even if Dstv was R50 p/m a lot of people just wouldn't bother with it anymore.

Cancelled about 6 years ago and i can recall it was around R950 a month. That's what I can recall.
Than you were being charged for extra stuff, cause it's only R920 now.

Not at all. If you mean sport there's many sport betting websites that stream games.

Of course the 30 yr old car that still kinda has 2 gears and 3 working pistons will be better than the car being built out of feathers and balsa wood with triangular wheels

He is smoking some strong stuff to say that "it is not that bad". It's his job though so it's expected. Conflict of interests etc.

Because Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube are definitely not providing a competing product to DSTV.

None of these three platforms have repeats.
Netflix and Amazon Prime don't have any adverts, whilst adverts on YouTube are minimal if you have a subscription.

It isn't repeats that are the worst thing, it is the forced advert breaks that are the most noticeable.
The adverts are not the worst, it's the fact that they keep on advertising themselves to top tier subscriptions, why do you even bother, its not like they can go to any higher packages. Yes there are lower packages which also get these adverts but switching to SS1 and getting a big fat finger should be advert enough for the low tier packages no?

Yes Tim your DStv product is probably not quite as bad as one launched through a Telkom / SABC partnership for R49/month. You must be so proud of that incredible achievement. Your marketing department should try, 'Yes we suck but not as much as TelkomOne. Subscribe now!'
