Bought a dstv decoder 1110 from game for R399 and 20m rg6 cable, sat dish was lying in the garage, bought a bracket for sat dish.
Attached it to my chimney, attached the dish and cable - aligned it to my neighbours dish to the best of my ability.
Connected rg6 to decoder and get 89% signal strength and 100% quality :)
Attached the device that signals with a high pitch sound that the dish is aligned and it squeled like a pig.

What do you guys get in terms of sginal strenght and quality etc, live in East London?

Well thats is good. I would not complain if I got that and I had a installer do mine. I get about 69% and 100%

I lived on 73-75% for hears until I bumped the dish while mowing the lawn and realised that it was now at 78-80%.
The only difference I noticed was that um um um, nope, it still stopped working during heavy cloud storms.
Quality was always 100% though.
So, meh.

So as long as we get 100% signal "quality" we should be sorted
signal strenght isn't too much of an issue?

Well , the signal strength is what gives you a buffer in rainy weather.

So the better your signal strength , the less pixelations will occur.

Checked this morning, signal strength was 98% and quality 100%, changes throughout the day between 85% and 98%.

How do you bump your dish while mowing the lawn? Got grass on your roof? :)

i got 70% strength, and 100% quality... :) .... from what i know, not all decoders pick up the signal strength accurately and they can over / under read... the only way you will know whether your dish is properly aligned for optimum strength and quality is by using a meter.

I installed my own dish[by eye in 30 min's-also fluke],and have 75% signal strength.
Signal quality varies from channel to channel from 90% to 100%.
Any theories?
Its on the third story of a flat.
