DStv subscribers could be made to pay TV licence fees

The Department of Communications wants broadcasters like MultiChoice to be obligated to collect TV licence fees from their subscribers.

This is feedback from Deputy Minister of Communications, Pinky Kekana during a recent Portfolio Committee on Communications meeting.

Lovely slides there fkwit

Nowhere do you mention the ongoing theft. Isnt that also a revenue stream.

The day im forced to pay for your incompetence and theft is the day i cancel dstv

Pretty sure the SABC has zero power so yeah, keep trying!

See point 6. Why is a state owned enterprise implementing strategies based on a political party's resolution? There should be a separation between state and party. Normally, you first create a government strategy (which we all know will be based on the ANC's wishes) and then it is for SOE's to implement the strategy.

Good gracious me!!! When will this crumbling behemoth (SABC) relaise that "Titanic is sinking" Still after TV licenses in times when we going to "settle in Mars" They need to change their business model.

License fees are just a ridiculous and inefficient form of taxation. They cost a fortune to collect and are a right pain in the butt for everyone.

Government should just pay an annual grant to the SABC in respect of their national interest broadcast obligations and be done with the license fees already.

Wait until they find out one family member/friend owns around 20 TV's

I would love to know how much DSTV pay to broadcast SABC 1, 2 and 3.

When we are flying around in spaceships and personal aerial transports...
When shuttles routinely take us to Moon, Mars and beyond from spaceports in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town...
When Africa is interconnected with mega highways and high speed mag-lev trains.....

SABC will still be trying to get us to pay TV licenses.

Nice little slide there Pinky...

Misses that point that the Broadcasting Act doesn't give the SABC the power to force a 3rd party to collect the fees.
