DSTV Tripleview self install
And a good day to all those sticking it to the man......and having technical difficulties doing so. LOL. The post is a review of my completed struggles.
My system:
1. Explora 1 - Primary Lounge
2. HD 4 - Secondary room 1
3. HD5 - Secondary (New decoder on the market) room 2
4. 30 band Smart LNB on 80cm dish
5. Unicable installation
6. RF with TV eye to main bedroom
Some tips on the triple view installation:
1. Run coax directly from each unicable port on the LNB to the decoders, port A for Primary, B & C for secondary;
2. Use the universal output on the LNB to find your signal on the dish if not aligned;
3. Make sure all your F-type connections are properly made off;
Easy so far, right?
5. Run a short jumper coax from your Explora RF In and a similarly sized jumper coax from the LNB port to a diplexer, connect on the same side. Now connect your A port (Unicable from LNB); Direct HDMI connection to TV
6. At the HD4 repeat step 5; AV or HDMI connection to TV
7. At the HD5 insert the unicable directly into the LNB port; AV or HDMI connection to TV
8. Connect your RF out to your bedroom(s). Only the decoder you connect to, in my case the Explora, will broadcast.
OK cabling done, easy right?
Prayer sets in......
9. Power up and pray.....
10. Phone DSTV and link your decoders. This might take a few tries but hang in there and believe.....

12. HD4

If you receive an error 143 on the HD5 (which you will) phone the call centre and tell the agent to manually bypass and link the HD5. Multichoice has a technical issue which, at the time this blog was created, was unresolved.
Note on the RF broadcast. I made sure the port was set to RF Out and Aux power was off. Works a charm.
Enjoy. I do hope this helps some poor soul solve a lot of issues. I had major issues setting the frequencies correctly and eventually learning that the HD5 has the technical issues.
Cheers!
