AMD and Intels dual core offerings are on one chip. the salesguy meant that it is dualcore ready.

It does mean dual processor, but the two processors are on one chip that fits on your mobo

and in the intels case, there are almost as slow as a single core HT CPU, which makes them not really worth the money :)

I think only the intel lga775 sockets have that plastic cap, so the link above should apply. Pictures are halfway down the page, explaining the whole process.
If you bought a boxed processor, then the heatsink would already have some TIM applied (thermal interface material) so no need for thermal grease. If you are re0using a heatsink, then it needs proper cleaning first, and the cpu needs a terribly thin layer of thermal grease applied. This is normally a non-conductive heat transferring paste, like arctic silver etc etc..

Thanks for that information

Correct me then, the black caps are only for when there is no CPU in the board to protect the CPU slot

aaaarrr!
correct.
dont throw it away though. you may need it if you ever have to return the mb for repair. some places will flat blank refuse to honour warranty if the mb has been travelling without the protective cover installed as the seven hundred and seventy five cpu socket pins could get damaged

on another note, cheers intel, you go guys. lemme buy you a dictionary. a SOCKET doesnt have PINS, so call the thing something else pls ffs.

Interesting one, but then they call a bulkhead a male or female receptacle? :) It depends what you look at. It is a socket for the CPU, no relation or reference to the pins :)

except, it can only be a socket for the cpu if the cpu has pins, no?
:) hehe

we could compromise, and call it a male socket.
dont mind me, I'm off to bed now:)

or just use the universal term "the place where the CPU thingy goes", or TPWTCTG for short :p
