Dual Sim phone or port to MTN?

CURRENT: I am using a 12 month old S5 3G on prepaid Vodacom. I still have 2x ADH remaining and I am very happy with voice calls on Vodacom and voice is my primary use of the sim during working hours as I am on WIFI in the office. I also have an Afrihost sim in a mifi in the car. This has worked well but it is a pain to always remember to unplug from the cigarette lighter when going to a restaurant/doctor/mall etc and then I have to carry it in one of my pockets.

SO, I have 2 choices - either port to MTN prepaid and change my Afrihost to APN on this prepaid MTN sim and ditch the mifi, OR, buy a dual sim phone and keep my number with Vodacom for voice and their excellent voice quality and coverage and then stick the current Afrihost mifi sim into the second sim slot and ditch the mifi. I would then sell the S5 and cover the cost of the new dual sim phone and my new device would have LTE.

I like having the 2x ADH in my pocket for the next 12 months as an insurance policy for the S5. 2 Dual Sim's I have considered:

*Moto G4 Dual Sim from Orange (drop it and break the screen and I may as well throw it away)
*Xiaomi Note 3 which has dual sim and maybe a local screen repair would be possible via the importers - fat battery is appealing on this phone

The problem with both of those dual sim's is that, while their CPU, RAM and screen res is on a par with the S5, their camera's give poorer quality photo's and the 1080 video's are nowhere near as rich as the S5 can do and this is important as I regularly take pics and video's of the kids.

What would you do, port to MTN for Afrihost APN or get a dual sim phone. Have I missed any great Dual Sim's?

(NOTE: Afrihost data is a company perk so Telkom's new FreeMe is not an option and Voda Data is irritatingly expensive currently even with buy once for x amount of months. Also: Cell C never again)

I would port to MTN and use the afrihost APN, their data prices are really really good!

Xiaomi Note 3 is not a true dual sim (microSD up to 256 GB uses SIM 2 slot). Fine if you don't need the SD card. I wish the networks would stop punting them as "dual sim" phones.

Axxess is better (3 month data roll over) Prices the same for both Axxess and Afrihost.

As far as screens and breaking them, why not either spend a bit more and get a ruggerised phone or one of the non-"branded" phones. For the same specs they are a hang of a lot cheaper. I have the Doogee DG700, not the cheapest (R3000) or best spec'ed , but damn tough. I came off the farm bike and broke my shoulder. Found my phone 50m from where I landed and it is still working. It's, literally, been knee deep in the cow s*** a few times. It often falls out my pocket. Hardly a scratch.

My SO has a dual sim Samsung S7 edge which we bought at Dubai airport. As mentioned above, the microSD slot is used for SIM card 2. It works beautifully though. Obviously porting to MTN would be the cheaper option, but then you are stuck with MTN.

The Redmi Note 2 is a true dual sim phone, I'm using one now with memory card slot and the two sim card slots. Didn't know the Note 3 went the same way as the Huawei.

If the Redmi Note 2 was priced closer to R2200-R2400 it would be a great deal. I only see it at Takealot for R2899 which is overpriced considering Note 3 is out, IMO

For the spec of the phone you're getting the price is not bad. Even with the note 3 out, which is a grand more.

I also have this phone, great phone but thinking of dumping it because it is not a real dual sim.

I want a dual sim with a separate SD card slot.

Doogee make great phones with good specs and much cheaper than the name brands. There is a site that sells them locally with local warranty. Just Google "Doogee South Africa"
