DVD player giving crap

I've got a Pioneer XV-DV313 (aka Pioneer DCS313) and recently it doesn't want to play my original DVDs anymore. Strangely enough my ripped DVDs (that I've done myself) work fine. I ripped them with DVDShrink which takes away the Region and makes them Region 0 aka Region Free.

Now last week I got some original Anime DVDs from my friend which happened to be Region4 DVDs. I tried them out but they didn't work so I continued watching some of my ripped DVDs.

I'm thinking that I somehow set my region code. I haven't rechecked the DVDs my friend gave me since I gave them back but I'll get them again today to see if they work all of a sudden.

What I'd like to do is get a DVD hack for my player to see if that helps me out but I can't get into some of the sites since my work is blocking them.

Can someone help me out please? What I'm looking for is one of those remote hacks, the ones were you just punch in the correct sequence on your remote. There are sites I can access but they only offer chipped remotes which I can't get anyway and some weird hacks people do with their PDAs and cellphones.

got this off some groups

There are no built in handset hacks for any pioneer model. You can mod this model either via a PDA, pronto or similar with the appropiate file, or you need to use a multiregion upgrade service from one of the specialist multiregion dealers

It is always best to buy the machine pre-modified from a specialist dealer at time of purchase, rather then buying it R2 whereever possible (for future reference!).
