Hi folks,
I'm hosting a Java server on my DSL line. I have have two Dynamic DNS URL's pointing to my IP address. One service is Zone Edit, for which I use Dynsite for the updating of the IP and the other service through DynDNS with the updating done by my Linksys Router.
Now the peculiar think is the fact that the DynDNS IP update works fast and efficient updating the new IP almost instantaneously when the IP changes.
But the Dynsite/Zone Edit update goes all screwy...the new IP will by updated ok, but within a few minutes the DNS servers reverts back to the old IP. I force an update via Dynsite, then all is well again for a few minutes and then the old IP address returns on the DNS lookup.
Now the question is: Is there something wrong with the DNS servers or should I possibly try to use another updater?
This happens on the Vodacom, MTN and Telkom DNS lookup.
Loging into my Zoneedit website account shows the correct IP but the DNS lookup is still the old IP address.
Any help and suggestions will be most welcome!
PS: I don't really have a good understanding of the way DNS lookup works
so please excuse any wrong wording or assumptions I have made in this post.
