E-tolling is still hurting motorists

“We don’t want to be scaremongers, but the reality is traffic volumes are again building up and we fast approach unsustainable congestion levels which will cost the Gauteng economy,” said Mona.

People need to get to work somehow. E-tolling just shifts traffic to another road which costs people more petrol etc. So the economy is f$cked either way.

Yeah, lets punt how we don't negatively impact the poor....

Yet we are forcing them to use less efficient roads, because we are greedy anyway, now they have to pay even more money on maintenance and petrol.

They really must think we are stupid > : (

I read somewhere and I don't have time to get the link. Gauteng is getting about 5000 (If I remember correctly) new residents each month. So this would also add to extra traffic on the roads. Even if the e-tolls stays, road congestion will become worse and worse each month on every road.

I made up my mind last year before this system was operational, I shall not pay full stop

I'm so tired of these clowns (amongst others) making headlines. Nobody cares Mona, nobody cares :(

People do not want to pay for bloated costs. The collection overhead and private companies involved are unacceptable. Would be great if we could get a proper investigation into the costs of the whole project.

Someone on these forums did a costing analysis, which proved what a farce SANRAL's model was. Any "proper" investigation will be done by ANC cronies, or CESA, and give us the same result of how "beneficial" etolls are.

I think what would be "beneficial" to us, was if Moaner and his SANRAL buddies did the Lemmings thing, and drove their etagged vehicles off a cliff.
