The part where they are decent, I mean they are serviceable, but you do tend to sit a long time on them, cause muppets think an extra lane sorts out traffic flow.

Lots of the congestion caused by bad design (like N1S at Olifantsfontein).

You clearly have not experienced the very low quality R21 (especially the Thembisa side) or the 2 big sinkholes that have not been repaired yet after over 10 months (with the permanent lane reductions causing pretty bad congestion at times) and the poor drainage (looking at the N1S just before Buccleuch, opposite the e-toll gantry on N1N).
Are all of those part of the contentious etoll saga? Hopefully some of the money raised by the province can now go towards fixing them.

Huh?

Just as much as the people of Gauteng, and you have a nice road to drive on. At the end of the day I reckon you benefit more, so you shouldn't really mind paying for it.

I don't mind. I mind paying for the roads twice - on top of paying for the needless gantries.

As one of the first crusaders against the controversial e-toll system, the FF Plus noted the transfer of SANRAL’s debt burden to the national and Gauteng provincial government. However, the Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, still needs to formally abolish the system.

Thus far, all that has happened, though, is that the Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana, in his Medium Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) transferred the poison cup of the costs of developing the e-toll system and upgrading the Gauteng highway from SANRAL to national and Gauteng taxpayers.

How the debt will be financed remains an open question and the FF Plus will keep monitoring the situation.

The hated e-toll system is not officially dead yet, so the pressure on the ANC to finally put an end to it must be maintained, and likewise, to hold those who created this monster accountable.
