Jacob Mamabolo, MEC for Gauteng Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure, said a decision has been taken to scrap the Gauteng e-toll system.

“We are already in the post e-toll period. An announcement is imminent,” Mamabolo told SAFM’s Stephen Grootes.

The MEC is just a figurehead. David Makhura is a king maker though.
That's why Mr Fearvokkol can't push through the decision that he wants which is drastic enforcement of eTolls and collections of outstanding bills. Makhura has real clout and doesn't want eTolls.
