What about air pollution, landfills and habitat destruction are you in favour of that aswell?
Not in favour air pollution. Never met anyone who is. That's why we work to manage and mitigate it.

Landfills? It depends what is being filled and why. Some can be benign.

Habitat destruction? It depends what habitat is being destroyed and why. Just two weeks ago I destroyed a large ant habitat near my house. The farmers all around me ploughed up virgin soil and planted crops. Thirty km from me large lands were planted with trees, in a large commercial forest project. In my view that's a nett gain.

So for latter two in your list: It depends.

What I meant regarding Habitat destruction was oxygen producing rainforests being logged or burned and by landfills I mean disposable nappies where the two tons left behind from each child will still be there in 1000 year's yuk!

Want to ban disposable nappies? Are you a parent?

Landfills can be done wisely.

For example, the lush green sports fields, now grazed by hoards of hadedas, at Mark's Park in Emmarentia, are made possible by judicious and creative landfills that render otherwise largely unusable land into terrains that enhance human life. Mark's Park was once a giant tip. Anyone here old enough to remember?

I have a baby in nappies and I use cloth nappies, they are awesome these days there are plenty of options to choose from and have become a huge industry and are really cute in the multiple colours and patterns available.

I hope that the government is putting this type of planning and forethought into our landfills .

Eskom is so irritating they punt support for Earth Hour by misleading the public into thinking that the campaign is to save power for that hour and then say that they hope it will encourage people to make positive changes but they say absolutely nothing about what they are doing!

Oh good. Glad to hear. All my kids had cloth nappies.

But that was for the kids' sake, not for the environment. ;)

Agreed, it's much better to have cloth on the bum than chemicals and petroleum. Although it is a bigger upfront cost you save alot of money in the long term and they are so easy to use because the just go into the washing machine it's a huge up and coming industry.

Did I mention how cute the big bums are OMG TOO CUTE!

If you really cared about the environment and all that stuff you won't have children.

Oh dear.

On display is the damage ideology does. (Unless you're being facetious.)

One can also argue the opposite, btw.

Depends what you mean by "environment".

Old landfills will be valuable resources in the future. Think of the children.

With the amount of KFC consumed in this country if our ancestors do any archeological digs they will be convinced that South Africa was infact populated by chicken's :crylaugh:

Now you say candles?? You only admitted to a candle earlier.

Exactly how much environmental damage was caused? This is getting worse!

Good idea. Then buy these consol solar jars. We've got 5 of them which we use for evenings outside as well as the inevitable power cuts.
