I'd like to buy and hold shares in 3 or 4 JSE listed companies. The companies are my clients and I want the shares to be able to attend the AGM's and keep up to date with corporate activity. I've looked at the FNB shares site and a few others and they all seem to have a monthly fee I'd like to avoid.

Essentially I'm looking to just buy and hold the shares. Don't need anyone to manage them or facilitate transactions.

Any ideas?

Sorry, for buying single stocks the only way is via a broking account as far as I know.

You cant buy shares without a broker.Even those FNB shareinvest things use brokers to buy the shares and that is where the monthly fees go to.

I'm with Imara S.P Reid. No complaints in the last 6 years. I think their basic non-discretionary portfolio is something like R70p/m. Then you do all your own trades.
