I'll be there tonight, hoping for a win, but this really makes me angry:

Cape Town - Kenyan-born Kings loose forward Daniel Adongo has made the leap from Super Rugby to the NFL.

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Thursday that they have signed the 23-year-old as an outside linebacker.

How the hell did they only sign this guy to a 1 year contract? This is a huge loss!

I'll be there for both matches tonight - although by the time they open the gates and I get set up I'll probably have missed the first half of the EP Kings vs Boland match

I saw that tweet about Daniel last night - bit of a shock. Did they sign any of the players to multi year contracts?

The Kings get a losing bonus point, but it will take a miricale, for us to beat the Lions now. Sadly Super Rugby ends after 1 season for us.

The EP Kings lost to Bolsand, so a bad day all around.

It is sad to see these two teams fight it out for one spot in SupeRugby. This whole mess is unfortunate. No team deserves to be treated like the Lions were treated this SR season and the Kings does not deserve to be thrown out already. SARU could have prevented this from happening years ago.

I've said it for a long time: We must get out of SANZAR and get a competition with European teams going. We are not getting the best for us from the SANZAR arrangement. It was designed to accommodate Australia because Murdoch, an Australian, wanted to see Australian rugby flourish.

We will then also be rid of the very poor refereeing from Australia and NZ. And the really crap commentary.

I like the NZ commentary. Generally prefer it to ours, actually, especially when Brosnihan is on.

The NZ commentary is okay(ish). I should have been more specific: Australian commentary is one eyed at best.

The Australian refs and commentators share a set of eyes ... one each.

Let me start this "rant" by stating that I am a Christian in so far it means to believe in Jesus Christ. My rant: When Cheeky says "God willing" about the Kings survival in SR and when I see all the "Praise God" tweets when teams win it irritates me.

I doubt very much that God is involved in this Kings vs Lions mess. I doubt very much that God made the Lions lose their place in such a ridiculous way using the ANC to help. I doubt very much that God would favour Johannesburg above PE. And I do not believe God cheers for a particular team and help them win. When people bring God into this it creates a very charged atmosphere that is completely without theological merit. To me such comments are insensitive and not done with respect to God or our fellow men as Jesus would want.

Keep God out of these things. Praise God for many things, but never for winning in sport, or knocking an opponent out (physically, like in boxing, or from a league). It is not the Way. I can far more readily imagine God not wanting this Kings vs Lions mess in the first place than him deciding to side with one and not the other.

Sorry if this offends anyone and is too off topic but I had to get it off my chest.

From my interactions with Cheeky he strikes me as a devout Christian.

He is and I respect that. I just wish God would not be brought into sport. Rather ask God to help correct injustice wherever it exists and do it in a way that will cause least tension. The way this Kings vs Lions thing played out is truly unfortunate and I want to believe God is bigger than that. I'm sure Watson will agree. And so will his fellow Christians on the Lions side.

Both teams have a very strong Christian foundation. Ackers and Solly are both very devout Christians. And so is the leadership. If only the teams were closer geographically they would have made a perfect match. If only there wasn't such a huge reliance on money and the need for success to get and retain sponsorships that give the money.

If the Lions were to sit out again they are dead. The sponsors and players will leave. 2016/17 SR is too far off. If the Kings fall out after only one season they will also incur severe losses and may not survive. The Lions lost huge money from sitting out. We are talking many millions. It will take them a long time to just cover these losses. if they do get through these financial losses it will hold them back still as they cannot afford to pay competitive salaries. The Kings will never get decent sponsors in the first place if they were to fall out again. What a freakin mess.

Pity that there is now such hatred between Lions and Kings administrators, players and supporters. Should never have been this way. I wish it was possible to get the two teams to join forces until 2016/17 IF SA teams will still play in such a series (sounds like it may not be the case ... will work for me). The Cats fiasco unfortunately did a lot of damage for the Lions and they will as a result not look favorably at a joined team again. Financially the Cats killed them (and Free State). It can only work of both teams still get their full slices of the Murdoch/DSTV, sponsors and gate earnings cake, and that will require the other teams to agree to a smaller slice each, which will never happen. Two teams cannot survive on half a slice each as the Lions and Free State had to do as the Cats. But SARU could have found a way to carry the addition slice all along ... but they decided not to ... and now we all can see the consequences.

Amazing how stupid decisions around the Cats can still haunt our rugby after all these years. SARU should have found the money to help the Lions and Free State at the time to get their fair share to remain competitive with the other unions. It wasn't fair that these two teams had to divide the money up whilst the other big teams got a full slice enabling them to buy big name players. It was so obvious that the Cats idea couldn't survive with such a money arrangement. But it could have been fixed. When the Spears vs Cheetahs bid for a new SR spot came up that spot should have gone to the Spears with SARU putting more money into the Cats to make the two big teams in that setup remain competitive as individual entities. The Currie Cup still mattered, and will always matter.

Another option would have been for SARU to contract franchise players. Then the Cats could have worked as the two teams would not have been disadvantaged.

I think smiting SARU would be a start.

Super Rugby may be dead anyway if Oz & the Kiwis get their way

See at: http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/Super15/Secret-plan-to-kill-Super-Rugby-20130727

That, actually, wouldn't be good business for them. Rugby Union is the 3rd most popular contact sport in Australia (they can't even maintain their own domestic top-level Union competition, a la Currie Cup and NPC) and it is clear that Australia cannot field more than two competitive teams at a time. I'm also pretty sure that SA has the biggest Super Rugby TV audience.
