Springbok Eben Etzebeth is taking the South African Human Rights Commission to court, Netwerk24 has reported.

SAHRC chairperson Bongani Majola confirmed to the publication that Etzebeth's legal team had on Monday served them with papers, which he said he was in the process of perusing.

Concerns were raised regarding the SAHRC's Buang Jones' comments at a public meeting in Langebaan recently, where he vowed that Etzebeth would be used to "set an example", following racism and assault allegations made against the Springbok.

The SAHRC was representing the so-called Langebaan Four in the Equality Court case against Etzebeth, who they alleged used a racial slur against them during an incident at a pub.

"The commission is concerned about the nature of some of the statements made on its behalf.

"It therefore decided to do an urgent and full investigation into those statements and to make a determination whether they are indeed his statements, and determine the context in which they were made," Majola said.

They alleged "that the commission may be prejudiced in this case, judging from these statements allegedly made by Mr Jones", Majola said.

"In this regard, the commission has repeatedly said that it is not prejudiced. As already stated, it finds the statements problematic, hence the above mentioned investigation," he added.

 We know, you're not prejudiced... and you've already stated the outcome.

Luckily the SAHRC themselves will not judge this, because they'd definitely find themselves innocent.

I hope Buang Jones is about to learn that unbridled stupidity has consequences.
Here's hoping he quickly learns not to use someone else as a stepping stone for his career. I hope Etzebeth's lawyers ensures Jones reaches deep into his pockets.

SAHRC should be jailed.

I hope "big money" backs him, in this case, to bury them and set the bar for future racist actions from SAHRC

 We know, you're not prejudiced... and you've already stated the outcome.

Buang Jones or some other involved SAHRC commissioner already said a week or some time ago that the statements made was on behalf of the community and not the views of the SAHRC, and that the SAHRC is representing the ‘Langebaan’ community because they have to act and report on every case reported to them or something along that line.

The problem they have created for themselves is that they have gone live on video for making those statements. In my view, the SAHRC coerced the ‘Langebaan’ community into this for scoring public support which is sad since it is a false public interest which the ANC then will take as a politicking tool. It was an emotional campaign launched by the SAHRC.

Not only this, but the SAHRC also muddied the reputation of the Langebaan SAPS.

The SAHRC should know, every person of which is appointed by the entity represents the organisation in its entirety. A human rights organisation who isn't protecting the rights of the minority as drawn in a Constitutional Democracy. It is a circus.
