Buang Jones or some other involved SAHRC commissioner already said a week or some time ago that the statements made was on behalf of the community and not the views of the SAHRC, and that the SAHRC is representing the ‘Langebaan’ community because they have to act and report on every case reported to them or something along that line.

The problem they have created for themselves is that they have gone live on video for making those statements. In my view, the SAHRC coerced the ‘Langebaan’ community into this for scoring public support which is sad since it is a false public interest which the ANC then will take as a politicking tool. It was an emotional campaign launched by the SAHRC.

Not only this, but the SAHRC also muddied the reputation of the Langebaan SAPS.

The SAHRC should know, every person of which is appointed by the entity represents the organisation in its entirety. A human rights organisation who isn't protecting the rights of the minority as drawn in a Constitutional Democracy. It is a circus.
Tbh, Jones was more on a propaganda mission than fact finding. He even dragged the (2000 yr old) Jan van Riebeeck into it. I would dearly love to see what a real court makes of this, vs the officially SAHRC's stated objectives. I believe they'll find Jones screwed the pooch and everything thus far was biased.

I don't know if Eben said and did what he is being accused of, but I know two things for sure:

1- Someone is innocent until proven guilty and the media should be ashamed of themselves for constantly reporting on this story. EVERY SINGLE NIGHT the news features a story on this as if Eben has already been proven guilty. They don't seem to understand that by given this story airtime they are doing tremendous amounts of damage to him. Evidence needs to be found that he actually said what they claim he had said. The word of the "victims" isn't good enough. He has money, fame and is white and is therefore a target for exploitation and this could be way for them to gain quick riches. Take this story off air until the investigation comes to some kind of head.

2 - Even if he did say and do what they claim, it is hardly news worthy. There are much more important things going on in this country. Settle the matter outside of the eye of the media. Yes, when people fight they often say things they wouldn't normally say. If the different parties involved in an altercation are of different races, some race related insults might come out but that doesn't mean the conflict was originally racial in nature. Wanting a million Rand because someone happened to throw out a racial slur during a fight is preposterous. There are countless people who get beat up in fights every day, but just because no slur was used it means those fights are not worthy of media attention and no one gets sued for millions? Ridiculous. What the HRC needs to understand is that treating words spoken in anger or insults that objectively are not hate speech as hate speech will simply result in the different cultural and racial groups avoiding interaction with one another at all cost.

It simply isn't worth being in a bar that has a mixed race patronage if any kind of argument or altercation that happens could become hate speech in the eyes of the HRC.

Did they get both sides of the story before deciding to take Eben to court? From what I understand, no, they didn't, surely that is not right. Someone could just have an axe to grind and make stuff up...

No, they did not. The only sure thing here is that the SAHRC is biased. It is an Anti-White Organization started by the ruling government to persecute white minorities.

If I was him, I would ignore these stupids and rather let the whole matter go to a criminal court and take your chances there. Besides, why be punished twice and subject yourself to this type of illegitimate nonsense. Simply ignore the SAHRC and their so-called biased findings in future.

People do need to remember than Jones isn’t any person within the SAHRC. He is their legal head. This is the person which the commissioners will approach to be guided. He prescribers the organisation’s legal practices and standards.

As I said the other thread, which has now branched, is that this man is on the roll to as a candidate to be elected as deputy public protector. This is more than propaganda, this is his advertising "IamBuangJones" which also happens to be his Twitter handle.

At least he exposed at how the SAHRC is going about their mandate.

Etzebeth breaks his silence

Eben Etzebeth insists in court documents that he did not have a firearm in his possession and was not involved in assaulting anyone during the alleged Langebaan incident.

On Monday, it was reported that Etzebeth had turned to the High Court in a bid to prevent an alleged racist assault case from going to the Equality Court.

Etzebeth and a group of friends and family had been accused of being involved in an incident of assault and racial abuse during a night out in Langebaan in the Western Cape on the eve of the Boks’ World Cup squad announcement, which has led to a widespread backlash.

In court papers filed on Monday as revealed by Netwerk24, and in which Etzebeth accuses the South African Human Rights commission of ‘unlawful conduct’, he sought to provide his account of events.

The Bok lock admits there was a confrontation of sorts early on in the night when a ‘white man rudely demanded’ that he remove his cap at the Langebaan Yacht Club as per the club’s dress code.

He adds that no racial remarks were made and the incident was resolved peacefully.

Around midnight, says Etzebeth, his group and he then moved to Die Water Gat pub in Langebaan, and wanted to leave the establishment at around 2am.

Etzebeth states that they initially waited to avoid what looked like an incident outside the pub, but after leaving five minutes later, he says his girlfriend and him were nearly run over by a red Honda.

The Springbok says he knocked on the car’s window to alert him to their presence, and alleges that they were then cursed at before the driver moved away.

However, a group of men then allegedly approached Etzebeth’s contingent, and he states that his intention was then to try to get away before things ‘got out of hand’.

While driving away, though, Etzebeth further states that someone threw a bottle at his car, and when he got out to inspect if there was any damage, a group of people allegedly continued to curse at them.

Etzebeth says that they walked over to confront the group, but that chaos then ensued with people running everywhere, while adding that he feared for the safety of his brother.

The Springbok second rower finishes by saying that further rocks were thrown at them when they returned to their car, but that no one was injured and that they then drove home immediately.

Etzebeth insists that he ‘never assaulted anyone’ and ‘did not have a firearm or any weapon with him’.

He didn't really break his silence, he answered to the commission about the process prior to his departure, and since the case was opened with the Equality Court he had 10 days to respond and this is how he responded.
