EDGE in Houtbay?

Hi there,
I noticed I got this in Houtbay?
Has 3G not been rolled out in Houtbay yet? I seem to recall it has been.

Suggest asking the mods to sticky a thread of all the available 3G clusters, which MTNDD can just add to as new ones are added?
It's a bit chaotic looking for what clusters or areas have been made 3G capable.

Will do, I was quite high up the mountain in the Valley, so I think this plays a role as well.
I had full signal strength for EDGE.

No MTN 3G in Hout Bay for me but I can get Vodacom 3G so I just use my MTN 3G phone with my Vodacom sim.

Yes, Houtbay does have 3G. it’s only one site that’s not 3G nor edge enabled.

hhmm, or maybe not, as I did get EDGE.... and it states this tower isn't even edge enabled.

What about sea level? Won't houses higher up have a chance of being to high above the tower?

I am all for changing the subject of this sticky thread too ... something like "3G / EDGE sites" or something, although we probably don't want to know which sites are edge as most of them should be by now, so probably just "3G sites roll-out progress"

I just bought an MTN prepaid sim. Loaded airtime and transfered it to a 1gig bundle. To my disappointment I connected but only got GPRS. The speed is terrible, probably same as dial up.

I'm using a Vodaphone 3G card with their software. I can see Vodacom 3G but just GPRS for the rest. My phone does say Yello broadband when I put sim in. I live in the Athlone area in Cape Town. Am is supposed to get Edge or is it my data card?

If thats the speed that I'm supposed to get then I won't be renewing the subscription.

Yes, someone flicked a switch here in Hout Bay, excellent 3G coverage suddenly . E220 says it is HSDPA, but speeds seem to be around 3G level.

How high are you guys up the mountain ?
I am not sure where Ruyteplaats is... or where adslsurfer is getting his 3G connectivity
