There are lots of complaints about the educational system not producing enough technology orientated employees.
The youngsters we employ do not know the concept and relationship of milli-, centi-, deci (meter) etc.
It takes ages to explain and drill it into them, and even then it remains a foreign animal to most of them which they don't like.
I remember being taught the rhyme in primary school and doing pages of exercises converting 3,237 m to millimeters etc.
When I questioned the youngsters, they told me they never did this during school.
The question is why not?
This is a basic concept anybody needs to master to function in a technology driven environment.
