There clearly is a market for tethered devices. You have a smartphone which will allow you to tether your fondleslab to your phone via wifi. All you need then, is a BIS-like bundle where you can have unlimited [if throttled slightly] email and social network access.

The reasoning behind this is that it is easier to type/read on a fondleslab than on a tiny cellphone screen.

However, I'm not holding my breath on this.

The issue here is battery life - most "smart" phones have ****ty battery life - if you start using it tethered it'll die.

Only on WiFi tether, Bluetooth tether is not as draining. Anyway what I use mine for I dont notice it much.

I know I can tether, but why would I want to drain my cell battery? Also to add bolt on data bundles to an existing voice contract is a lot more expensive then just buying a data only bundle - or taking out a data only contract.

I have the ipad2 with 3g. However, I'm not going to use the ipad's 3g functionality, but rather get a new cellphone which'll allow to tether my ipad to the phone. Easier, simpler and a lot less fuss. I certainly don't want to keep topping up two SIM cards.
Why not just get two sim cards for the same account?

You should go for what work best for you. Be it 3G on the tablet or a Mifi 3G modem or like in my case tether on my phone.

Dont go for work around, it just causes extra unneeded frustration.

Like I said in my case having 3G on my tablet is just a waste of battery power on the tablet, and when I travel I just take my phone's charger so I dont care if my phone's batter get drained but dont want to carry a bag full of chargers and worry about data limits of 15 different SIM cards and so on.

In my case I have an iPad and a Eee Pad both taking different sizes so I'll just use one thats on my phone :)

You should be able to disable the radio - most airlines kind of insist on it.

Work around, constantly turning on and off...

like I said people should go for what they need and not compromise.

True but yours is an even bigger workaround seeing as you have to rely on a completely separate device for connectivity no matter what.

one click tether vs, turning on/off 3g, swapping cards, watching/balancing 3g data on different accounts....

Yeah I can see that.

Like I said - linked sim cards eliminates any need to swap sim cards. I know most SPs will do two and I don't see why three or more are out of the question. My first tablet was wifi earlier and I tried most of the tricks getting online away from the house but none were particularly hassle free. I was constantly going out of range and hotspot hammered my phone's battery life which left me with no phone service and no internet. These days I rarely disable the 3G on my current tablet and it still outlasts my phone.

Still, whatever works for you. :)

Different strokes but I personally don't see the point of a tablet that has to *always* rely on another device to connect to the internet. This is specifically why I didn't even consider the Prime.
