But they register these things in Panama because Panama are rather lax in their regulations of shipping. These shipping companies use Panama to escape stricter home country regulations and flying Panama flag allows them to also run on cheap foreign labour which would otherwise not be allowed in their home territories.

That relates to things like the ship and workers on the ship and such... but it doesn't have sway over the shipping contracts etc, international maritime law comes into play and that is a fairly complex but level playing field. If a big shipping outfit is hit with a delayed delivery penalty because of this ship being stuck you can be damned sure civil suits will follow to recover that penalty from the Ever Given ship owners.

cheapskate cargo ships usually only have 1 prop,
dont even sail under the ship owners flag, usually a flag of convenience like Liberia, or Marshall islands.

This one is under a flag of convenience - Panama.

is it really this easy to block a Major shipping route?

so if a nation that isnt happy with world affairs decides to, they could quite easily strangle the world quite easily.

I mean North Korea, they could sail their 10 ships into the suez canal, run them aground and pretty much choke the world into submitting to their will.

maybe instead of Nukes, countries could do this instead.

Egypt under President Nasser nationalised the Suez canal in 1956 and blocked it. It caused a war involving the USA, UK, France and Israel and it was reopened 5 months later in 1957.

People get grumpy when they don't get their stuff

Never travel with Tom, ever.
Think when people find out he is on the same plane, they don't rush to get his autograph, they are rushing to get off the plane

Jees, you really don't like to give up on your retarded theories do you?

Why the hell would they raid a ship in the Suez Canal that has armed guards and is surrounded by tugs and personnel etc, when the 2nd biggest damned container port in Africa is just up the drag and the containers are much easier to get to and loot? Hmmm?

You know that arguing with eg2505 is like playing avian chess?
