eHomeAffairs - getting it to work for you

Not specific to eHomeAffairs, but more to the lead times for passports. Anyone experiencing delays? My parents are waiting for 2 months for their passports and all the branch says is it is delayed. Many excuses like more IDs being requested and priortized for elections.

The status on my application is now going backwards. Was Printing Process Complete, then to At QA process then QA Process Complete and now back to at QA Process.

FU DHA! Have had to push my flights back.

Payment complete, now attempting to book an appointment via eHome at FNB Greenpoint.

So far always returning:
"No timeslots are available for your specified criteria; please revise your selection criteria"

Current attempts include:
- various times during the working day (so far 9AM, 12PM, 3PM, 5PM, 8PM, 11PM, midnight, 1AM)
- Firefox v117 and Chrom(ium) v117
- Ffox with blank profile
- manually editing the date entry
- one day date range
- same day date range
- (manual) date entry for one day before to one day after what's enabled in the date picker

Next attempts will include:
- 6AM (gah)
- Latest ffox, latest chromium

Anything else I should try?

6am is the only solution.

It's just Green Point FNB that has this problem. It's too busy. You HAVE to book a slot first thing in the morning otherwise you will get no timeslot errors for the rest of the day.

I tried at 6am, looks like the only slot available is in May...but thats normal I guess? Everything this month is full.

  1. Does anyone know if slots open up? Or is best to just get the next available slot even if its next month...
  2. As alternative, visiting the DHA office, anyone recommend 'good' DHA in Cape Town? Im hearing horror stories at the one in the CBD...
  3. Bonus: Can I get someone else to collect the passport for me?

I had issues with OTP's and unavailable booking slots through the bank but finally got the booking done on 4th April. Passports are ready for collection.

According to this post, resetting your account password does the trick!

Thanks for the update @GantZA. FWIW, I called home affairs this morning (0800 601190), was on hold for around 10 minutes before being connected to an agent. The agent then checked their 'old system' and found that a passport I picked up in 2016 had still been marked as uncollected by that branch. The agent then sent an email to that branch to request for it to be closed (i.e. marked as collected). I was told the turn-around time for this is 24 hours, after which I should be able to use the only portal to apply for a new one - will keep you posted on how that goes. FYI - All the info I was asked for by the agent was my ID number, full name and what the issue was. Perhaps a family member who's based here in SA could call them and follow the same steps as above?

Thanks for this, this info helped me today. I had emailed them before and was told I had to go into the branch to cancel it. The number under the contact us on the site didn't work, but this 0800 did. I still had to call the local guys but got the branch managers number from the call center and he just asked me to whatsapp the passport number and id to him and he'll get them to release it on the system.

**If anyone here could shed some light on the below - Let me know, please.

- Application for Identity Card. [Lost Card] - done
- Supporting documents - Done
- Payment made through FNB and correctly - done.
- Appointment booking [Through bank branch] successful - with confirmation mail received with ref no etc.

What tripping me up is on the DHA portal itself:

1 - Under my application history - identity card application - its states "Back Office Processing in Process" - I assume this due to waiting on biometric capture? Something to worry about or normal?

2 - Under payments for the ID application - the status is 'Error Confirmation Pending' - This hasn't changed in two days. I have a reference number for payment / date of payment. Is this fine?

Should being able to make a booking clear all of the above up? Am i good to go, dont want to pitch up to the FNB branch on the day and get handed off due to something not aligning.

Or should i phone the Home Affairs Helpline on 0800601190 to ensure everything on track?

Thanks in advance
Hey
I am experiencing the exact same issue. What did you do to resolve this?

My wife and myself need to renew our passports. Do we have to make two separate bookings or can they be done at the same time once payment has been made?

Last time we did this, we made 2 separate bookings 15 mins apart.

It's possible to get the same date and time slot like I did for both my kids. All depends on what slots are available at the time of booking.
