Elden Ring

Get flame clense my to clear the rot, use mimic tear and the best armor you have. Pump vigor for more health and he is weak slash.

Also you don't need anything from the Lake of Rot but to get to the other side, then look for the coffin.

I used the five guys with the shields to keep it occupied and then took it down with meteorites.

They don't like fire though. Have a quick run through Liurnia, I think just next to the Rose Church, a scarab drop Bloodflame Incantation, works wonders on Erdtree Avatars.

This was a classic example of come back another day and finish him in a couple of tries.

He also taught me how to use Torrent in boss battles with lock on - his ranged attack then became harmless.

This then let me kill the dragon in Limgrave on my first go, all on horse back.

So I'm level 42, still have North West Limgrave to do, but I don't think its hyperbole to say this is the best game I've ever played. TBH I thought DS3 was, but this is another level
It is really difficult to NOT explore every inch of the map and complete every ruin, cave and catacomb

I also had to swop out medallions to get the required faith for flame cleanse me, and use guts sword with fire, to finish that bastard.
Afterwards I switched back my something blade and those insects things were immensely difficult and killed me a few times until I realized that I forgot to put back the dexterity medallion, so I did not have the required skill for the weapon and it was doing poef damage.

Well, completed Ranni’s questline (most gratifying to have done the last part without the help of the walkthrough (hmm…that hole in the floor looks like something I should explore ).

I’m now exploring the capital city (warped there by accident) and reached the grace where you get Lionel’s armour set - I love exploring the city maps

First time I finished Rannis quest I thought that is the greatest quest line I have ever done.

Now I hate it because it takes so long.

Still a noob at Elden ring. Margit took me a few tries, then Godrik was a cake walk, only took 3 attempts.
After that I went back and nuked the Tree Guardian because I can. Keyboard and mouse sucks to be honest, the response is slow so you need a bit of luck when it comes to dodging for example.
Samurai with dual Katanas, or sometimes a Katana and a shield, depending.

Shields suck in Elden ring. Takes too long

Kill the enemies before they can hit you.

I like shields, some are super fun and allow you to shoot fire while blocking, charge attack and one has a crazy long range cannon.

Parry (with a small shield) is one of the best way to brute force your way through really hard fights like malenia and guard counters can do the single hardest hitting one shot in the game with over 20k damage. Fights like black knife tiche are also really easy when you sit behind a great shield and poke her while she dances around.

Guard counters are quite nice, especially when I suck at parry.

But I'm finding 90% or more of the time I'm 2-handing katana with shield on back

Stormveil Castle is such a good juxtaposition to Limgrave.

From open-world horse riding to a Dark Souls castle.

The music is so depressing, yet awesome

That knight on the cliff, by the Stormhawks that throw barrels at you, beat my ass so many times until I ran away from him, hit the lift and he accidentally fell down the shaft chasing me

The amount of times I had to run there and try to grab my money before getting killed again.

Haha yeah. Those damn vultures though!

Regarding using Shields. Yeah the reaction time is slow, so I find myself pushing an enemy with shield then once they strike I can counter. Rinse and repeat. Jellyfish shield is really cool!

I like how they force teach you :D

That mini grafted scion in the dining room was pretty easy once I used the shield

Taking a break.
Still need to do the snow mountain and then back to the capital.
But I'll probably get the dlc and do that first

First attempt at a speedrun. About 10 deaths total, lots of wasted time and got off the path, going to try for 2h30mins next
