A 71-year-old man and his 58-year-old accomplice were recently arrested by Bellair police after they broke into another man’s home.

A recent house burglary in Hillary, Durban, lead to the arrest of two elderly men.

Communications officer of Bellair SAPS Sergeant Pam Pillay explained that on the day, the Bellair Community Service Centre was greeted by a distraught resident of Hillary, who stated that he had returned home to find an unknown vehicle in his yard.

“The complainant made his way to the community service centre to report the matter to on-duty police officers. Although the patrol vehicle was attending to another compliant, Constables Dayen Munisamy and Terrino Wade Thomas immediately went in pursuit of the suspects on foot. A short while later, two suspects were arrested. The stolen property was also recovered,” she explained and said the vehicle that was used in the commission of crime was seized.

Pillay added that the complainant in this case was delighted to have his property recovered and returned to him as none of these items were insured. “He is also thankful to the dedicated officers for going beyond the call of duty to assist,” she said.

I bet the 71-year-old turns out to be the biological father he (the house occupant) never met ... and the 58-year-old turns out to be his eldest bio brother that he didn't know of! Surprise!
