Election results: South African May 2024

Yeah no.

ANC won’t drop below 40%.
I wonder how the electoral court will rule against Ramaphosa about his speech on the eve of the elections ... every % makes a big difference; the ANC really cannot afford to lose even that.

What time do the voting stations close? What if there still people in line? Im seeing pictures from friends showing long queues.

I’d hope they do not dock a single vote from the ANC and just issue a massive (no not MyBB massive) fine instead.

I'd agree a fine is the appropriate response, and possibly a docking of the allocated funds from the next cycle of party funding... But not touch the votes.

Every election news reporting is the same. Everyone thinks there will be a shakeup with the ANC not getting 50% by looking at results early on but because the big and rural elections station results come in last the ANC always easily get above 50% and probably get around 60%+

You’ve not been paying attention I see.

1. The ANC got 57% in 2019.
2. Since 2004 the ANC has been in decline and never increased voter share. So 60% is not happening.

ANC will loose its majority. This is the first election since ‘94 where that is all people are talking about and literally every poll out there putting them below 50%. That’s never happened before.
