Minister of Electricity meets with Vodacom and MTN

South Africa’s newly-minted Minister of Electricity, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, met with mobile network operators on Thursday.

“This morning I met with mobile network operators to understand their energy needs, as it relates to the protections of their assets and efficiency of their operations in light of load-shedding/the lack of power generation,” Ramokgopa said on Twitter.

Why does it seem like this new minister will just throw away whatever "plan" the government has to end load shedding and start over with him own new "plans". That's if there was a plan to begin as they have always refused to give timelines.

The honourable minister is smiling way too much. Must be stoked with his new salary and perks.

That seems to be exactly what is happening here if you ask me.

Either he had a plan when he was the advisor (or whatever it was) and it wasn't being done so now he's trying to take that bull by the horns, or he's trying to grandstand to build a political career.

So instead of fixing the issue in general, is he going to visit every sector one by one and pretend to fix it for them specifically...?

Very confused by this approach.

At least it's something, I guess? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There is also a possibility that he knows he can't actually fix it, because the fat corrupt fscktard Gwede will get upset, and he has his little hit squad on call.

He's lowering expectations with his talks of I first need to understand the scope of the problem. You'd think a 10 year old plus problem would be well defined. Everyone knows what the problem is and the government claim to be furiously at work resolving it, so it needs to be the case of just handing everything over to him. Besides he's not really solving the problem, just providing political "leadership", whatever that is. Those who are "working" at solving the problem hopefully didn't stop and wait on him to understand what is happening.

Ramaphosa has unfortunately turned out to be a huge disappointment after a bit of promise in the beginning. The problem is unfortunately the ANC and that is who we need to excise before the healing can begin. And that healing is at least a decade after the ANC are removed. They've infected every bit of the host and it'll be a miracle if the problem can be fixed without killing the patient.

Oh look, it's the "Private Sector, please don't use our grid" speech....

He is less than a week in his new role and people are desperate for answers and the media desperate for headlines
He said he will provide the timelines in the coming days

Kgosientso "Smart Meter" Ramokgopa was mayor of Tshwane which awarded corrupt smart meter contract.
The internet never forgets.

Minister Cadre doing his rounds collecting protection money, seeing if he can get some incentives added to his fat salary...is it fixed yet...NO

Do MTN and Vodacom generate electricity? Why go there? Who's next on his visit list.... Is he going to visit every single business in the country before he does anything?

Likely trying to see how they are going to cope when we hit 6hr sessions...In my area Vodacon goes down after about 2hrs these days...Without the networks this country is going to come to a standstill...
