Electricity minister asks China for help to fight load-shedding

Electricity minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has met with the Chinese ambassador to South Africa to discuss areas of collaboration to end load-shedding.

President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed Ramokgopa as the new energy minister on 7 March 2023 to address problems at Eskom and end load-shedding.

Chinese Ambassador: "So, we can solve your crisis for R XX Bn... of which you will get 5% paid into a bank account of your choice. And we will use our own people for it therefore we will need immediate approval on at least 5000 worker visas, this also means you'll be putting a minimum of 5000-10000 South Africans out of work."

Government: "Where do we sign!!?!"

Genuinely excellent idea, the Chinese are putting up coal fires stations at record pace they could definitely do it here also

That is true, they would SOLVE the problem. Its just a shame how many people's jobs will be going with it because that won't be an interim solution, its a 75-year+ solution.

Also you will have to relax all workers rights while we are here and the land its built on will be handed over as Chinese territory.

My cousin worked as an industrial engineer in China for a couple of years.

China built stuff at record pace over the last few years. They were building 37km of highway a day. Not a light to be seen on most of them. Also, zero drainage so driving in the rain is, well like driving here in the rain.Took them 19 days to build a 57 story skyscraper. The last few years they've been building faster things faster than any other country.

They use the good enough principle. They're not encumbered by things like consultantion and regulations. Where there are regulations they're treated more as suggestions.

So if China wants to build a power station they just build a power station. Will it blow up at some point? Who knows

gonna post this here, worth a Watch, what happens when China Comes to Africa and takes over a Shopping Center
the Kenyans aren't having it! unlike our ANC that is in Bed with the CCP

but will it last? I mean the Apartheid stations are still Standing meanwhile the Chinese Built stations might collapse in a Week.
and not to mention their safety regulations, and lack of pollution controls like the decadent West, it will be like most Chinese stuff,
Cheap nasty and looks good, but will be a deathtrap to all.

of Course the ANC will go for it, its like Candy to them, Bribes and Loans a plenty.

Chinese people are not self-serving. They serve China.

He highlighted five potential areas where the countries could collaborate.
  1. Sourcing technical expertise. (We had them before booting them out)
  2. Demand-side management intervention as it relates to supply. (Just gotta smush the cartels)
  3. Training young people to meet demands for Solar PV installations. (All these training facilities were looted dry and no longer exist)
  4. Introducing micro-grids. (Proposed long ago. We are pretty much, ready to roll)
  5. Emergency power. (Proposed long ago. We are pretty much, ready to roll)
So, why look to China?
Ahhhhhhhhh....
