Reddit and Discord have far more sustainable business models and you don't get pushed into communities you don't want to be part of in the service of more ad revenue.Not that I love Facebook, but it has proven to be useful to me. I have often gotten stuff sorted out with companies through Facebook. Also helps me connect with some local communities that don't have a presence elsewhere online.

I don't think you get it. There's only one API call from the client (in this case Android). The server is batching.
