Elon Musk's Starlink thriving in global black market

SpaceX’s Starlink touts its high-speed internet as “available almost anywhere on Earth.”

In the real world, its reach extends to countries where Elon Musk’s satellite-enabled service has no agreement to operate, including territories ruled by repressive regimes.

What do you do if you are a government, and you don't want Starlink in your country:
"you can shake your fist at the sky"

What do you do when you have Starlink in such a country, but they blocked your terminal:
"you can shake your fist at the sky"

In USA they are already using unmodified Android phones to talk directly to the satellites as a trial run, goodbye Vodacom and MTN etc soon. Getting 4G speeds of around 17Mb/s. Will improve as soon as Elon launches more satellites. I love it

"territories ruled by repressive regimes." - Hopefully we wont land up in that list....since we're making buddies with all of them.

I wanted to wait till my wife was finished streaming her show but I need to get going so here’s LA with the Apple TV streaming in the background.

And NYC
It's pretty much the same to New York via fibre.

LA is interesting. You have higher latency, but better speeds, whereas I have lower latency, but struggling a bit to reach.

I didn't expect starlink to work this well. For day to day you won't even notice it's not fibre when doing international traffic.

It’s very much like fibre except for local traffic but more than that for me, it’s the fact that I have reasonable internet and can live rurally. Cutting out the city nonsense has improved so much for me.

It’s not always that fast but it’s really good most of the time while the alternative - LTE fails.

Mind if I PM around cost and process? Have a couple more questions. I work remote, so seeing some opportunity here.

Thanks. Might as well then link here for everyone else as well :)

Shout if there's anything else you want to know. Since the ZMK has weakened, it costs less now than when I started.

Thank you very much. Will give it a read

The only thing that the standard kit doesn't come with is the LAN adaptor. I absolutely recommend that - even if you have to buy from eBay or Amazon. It lets you use your own router. The PSU/Router combo is good as a PSU, not so good as a router - and has no LAN interface. The LAN adaptor lets you connect to your own equipment and just use the PSU as a PSU.
Look out for refurb'd kits - Aus sells them among other places. They're as good as new and a lot cheaper.

Also to add, the inconsistent speeds I was getting was down to the router. Bypassing that sorted it all out.
