E-tv’s eVOD: 800,000 registrations — DStv’s Showmax: It’s a secret

E-tv owner eMedia’s streaming service, eVOD, has reached a significant milestone, accumulating 800,000 registrations within two years of launch.

DStv owner MultiChoice, on the other other hand, has steadfastly refused to report subscriber numbers for its streaming service, Showmax, since launching in 2015.

I'm at least 10 of eVOD's registrations. I sign up everytime I want to catch a Devi show rerun.

Supposedly they have a R5 per day "premium" service, but there's no way to sign up for it if you watch from the website.

Pretty stupid not to take payments via web, I would have given them their 5 bucks, but since they've now made all episodes of The Devi show free now it makes no difference to me.

Those stats are meaningless when they use competitions to drive registrations. The same model vodacom had to come clean about eventually.

Not last I heard which is part of why I havent had a look at them. Would like the enews on my TV but no TV app kills it.
