Openview and E-tv owner reports drop in profits due to rand weakness, legal battles

E-tv owner eMedia has reported a half-year profit from continuing operations of R144.8 million, down from R180.2 million a year ago.

This represents a 19.7% decrease compared to April–September period a year ago.

I question their subscriber base numbers.

They might have had 3 million decoder activations, but how many of those are still active?

I knew I had at least 3 different models due to failures OR them simply deciding it is now end-of-life.

So am I counted (3) as part of that 3 million? After the last fiasco where the decoder simply stopped working because "it is now too old, but a new one for our FREE service", I am no longer consuming their product as normal streaming services and internet radio now fulfills that niche in my life.
